This distinctive course from Airflite Flying College offers a nationally recognised training pathway leading to the award of a Commercial Pilot Licence (Aeroplane), along with key aviation qualifications.

Graduates of the program will receive:

Designed for participants starting with zero flight experience, this program delivers the essential knowledge, skills and hands-on training needed to become a confident, capable commercial pilot.

Who Is This Course For?

This course is ideal for those looking to fast-track their aviation career, particularly toward roles as a Flight Instructor or charter pilot.

  • This course follows a Vocational Education and Training (VET) Course of Study which includes levels of competency from the AVI Aviation Training Package developed by Australian Industry Standards (AIS).

    Completion of the study will result in the award of:

    • AVI50222 Diploma of Aviation (Commercial Pilot Licence – Aeroplane)

    • AVISS00046 Night Visual Flight Rules Pilot Skill Set

  • This course supports the acquisition of recognised CASR Part 61 licences, ratings and endorsements. Airflite strongly encourages students to pursue all of these, including:

    Pilot Licencing

    • Private Pilot Licence (PPL)

    • Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL)

    • Flight Radiotelephone Operator Licence

    Aircraft Category Ratings

    • Single-engine aeroplane

    Aircraft Design Feature and Endorsements

    • Manual Propeller Pitch Control (MPPC)

    • Approximately 55+ weeks.

    • Full-time, Monday to Friday between 08:00 and 17:00, on campus at either Jandakot Airport, Western Australia or Moorabbin Airport, Victoria.

    • Additional attendance may be required, depending on such variable factors as weather, safety and progression of student competency. Please refer to Airflite’s Student Handbook for more information.

  • The award of AVISS00046 – Night Visual Flight Rules Pilot Skill Set requires completion of the following units:

    AVIH0015 Plan a flight under night visual flight rules

    AVIH0016 Navigate aircraft under night visual flight rules

    AVIY0033 Operate aircraft using aircraft flight instruments

    AVIY0073 Operate aircraft in the traffic pattern at night

  • The itemised pre-requisites are not required at, or with your application. They will be required prior to the start date. Airflite Flying College, will provide you with more detailed information.

    • At least 17 years of age and 18 years of age to hold Commercial Pilot’s Licence.

    • Aviation Reference Number

    • Have or be able to hold a Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) Class 1 Medical Certificate

    • Have or be able to hold an Aviation Security Identity Card (ASIC)

    • Satisfactory completion of the COMPASS Pilot aptitude test

    • Pre-enrolment interview with Airflite's Head of Operations

    • Consent to mandatory random drug and alcohol testing

    • Meet the academic suitability by:

      • Providing an Australian Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (year 12 certificate) or

      • Providing an International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IB) diploma or

      • Providing evidence of successful completion of a qualification that has been delivered in English and:

        • Was at level 4 or above (that is Certificate IV or higher qualification) in the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) or

        • Overseas qualification(s) that has been assessed as equivalence or comparable to a qualification at level 4 or above in the AQF by an Australian government agency for assessing overseas qualification

      • Displaying competence at or above Exit Level 3 in the Australian Core Skills Framework in both reading and numeracy through an approved Language, Literacy and numeracy assessment tool (see website for more)

    In addition, CASA requires an acceptable level of General English Language Proficiency (GELP). Students must show evidence that they meet the GELP criteria.
